There will be a single by the end of November according to RCA's information to radio markets.. they haven't given an exact date (as we posted in our news not long ago)..
For the album, no date has been given at all for it by anyone since RCA had said DEc 2nd.. which they retracted recently.
The album was indeed finished, but simne finalizing took longer than expected (chages in the tracklist, picking singles, title for the album, etc...).
We're expecting full info on album and single by the end of October.
Also keep in mind with album releases at the moment, timing is everything due to economy, and many changes in media outlets to promote.
Even little things people may not think can effect such things do, like the late night talk show host changes this spring. Booking on shows like the Tonight show (soon to be with Conan Obrien), Late Night (soon to be with Jimmy Fallon), and others who are changing things, make it diffacult to book appearances (or be invited) as everything is hectic during change-overs (it's not just the hsot changing, the crew and everyone else gets replaced too, so you got old crew still doing their thing with the new crew trying to set up the first of the new shows on top of them).
The economy has the greatest effect as people don't have money, and the label/sponsors have to spend a fortune on something they hope they get the money back on, They will take litterally everything into consideration and try to release an album at the ideal time to promote, and sell (which again, is not easy at the moment). They also have to hit a time when the songs will get airplay (unlike MD which didn't get all that much because nothing else on the radio was even close to those type of songs, radio didn't want to play it, but MD was a differant type of album and airplay wasn't a major concern for that album, it was more of a KElly thing than a label thing).
Another note on this would be changes at RCA and BMG.. because now you only have Clive with RCA and someone else running the whole BMG music group instead of Clive.. that's one more person who does things differantly adding his two cents into the mix for debate and such. He actually has a tougher job than Clive does.. he has to watch multiple labels and try to make them all money. This is all typical with any album. It's a lot of marketing stradegy, and a bit of guess and see.
For those i've seen worried about other releases around the same time, other major artists releasing albums at the same time can be a good thing. It can create fan competition causing fans to buy more of their favorite to out-do the other, as well as get people who go to buy one artists album to see the other right next to it on new releases and say 'hmm, i'm already here, lets get both'. It's understandable that fans willw ant their artist to be at #1 on charts and such, but having the #1 album doesn't always make it the best album, many #1 albums drop off quickly and the #5 or #10 album that never reached #1 stays ont he charts a lot longer making it more succesful than that #1 that dissappeared after only a couple of week.
It all has to be taken into perspective.
