Yes, it's all sad, but that's technology for ya. Everything has it's price.

But what if we don't like that price?

I think that the internet will somewhat level the playing field allowing smaller more obscure talent        ( acts) access to the marketplace although getting lost in a sea of information is certainly a limiting factor a little creativity can quickly draw attention to themselves especially in the age of facebook and myspace and other social networking sites. Maybe the age of the big label is drawing to a close.Only time will tell!!!!

wow i just caught myself up with this topic and im gonna share my thoughts haha

so, first, id just like to say to whoever it was that said kelly might not even make a 5th album, i completely disagree with you. Kelly said herself that she wants to make music her whole life basically. shes going to be making music until shes 50 or older in my opinion. look at cher. bette midler. madonna. guns and roses. ac/dc. and theyre just a few artists who are STILL making music since the 80's or before. so to say that youre having doubts that kelly will even release another album after this one, cmon. and im not saying this out of a "fan" perspective, im saying this out of commen sense. kelly will be making music for quite some time, and it may not be a new album every 2-3 years, realize that, but that doesnt mean shes gonna stop doing what she loves to do. it only means that shes not gonna release anything at a constant rate. she'll probably tour more than release albums bc of how much she loves to tour. dont put doubt in kelly and her love for music.

2nd. i kinda have to agree with alan on the whole video thing. idk how much their ratings have changed since they stopped showing music videos, but i feel like thats where they got most of their young viewers. i mean, look at how many teens watched TRL, and now they shut that off air? that was the main show most people could use as reference to videos and now its gone. sure, theres an MTV channel that shows videos all day, but take into consideration that not every person has all those channels. idk, i think it is quite expensive to shoot a video and for it to not get much playing time due to the other shows that are played over videos, its just a waste of time and money for the artist and the directors to make the videos.

as far as digital downloads goes, i agree with pt-star. if those people take away the whole point of being a music fan (aka buying albums in the CD form) then theyre not only taking jobs away from other people, but theyre also taking away the heart of the fans. if they took records away from the people back in the 50s, and they made it so you can only hear the music on the radios and stuff, i can almost guarantee that there wouldnt be as many music fans in the world today. the point of being a fan is to actually own your favorite artists albums or records, not just have them digitally.

okay i think that is all for now haha.

ur so right becauseofyou i have heart kelly say she can make 8 diffrent albums
so i think as long recordlabels wan't her she will make music for at least 4 more records
and also about the video i think ur right her in belgium u have like tw otv stations
that play music video's all the time and what's the fun of buying an album online
when u buy it in store u can keep it in your hand and u also listen more to all the songs on the album

haha well thank yall for agreeing with me lol  Grin
i mean, i honestly believe that kelly will be making albums until shes 50 just like many other artists out in the world today. just by listening to her talk about how much she loves making music for the world to hear. theres no reason for anyone to believe anything less than that of her. her love for music is whats going to keep her going and if her fanbase changes so be it, that doesnt mean she has to stop making music because of that. like alan said, if kelly wanted to, she would be playing in little coffee shops or bars or something just so she could keep playing. thats how dedicated she is to music. so i guess thats why i didnt understand why anyone could think anything less to come out of kelly. and like i said before, im not saying this out of a fan view, this is my personal view and thoughts with any artist out there, not just kelly.

and jesse, your right, kelly could start her own record label if she wanted to, or needed to. theres many different opportunities out there in order for anyone to continue living their dreams.

Thank you.I think Kelly is more than talented enough to be in the business 30+ years. Alot of people are good at things, but Kelly is not just talented, she's uniquely talented.there's alot of great basketball players, but only one Micheal Jordan.Alot of great football players, yet Emmitt Smith,Jerry Rice, and Dion Sanders, were the VERY BEST at what they did. They stood alone in their chosen profession.I see Kelly in this same regard.she stands alone in HER profession. How long will Kelly be here? BecauseofYou I agree with like EVERY word you said!

It is not always feasable to start your own record label. If it was that simple and feasable why doesnt every artist have their own label?

I think kelly has a good chance of making several albums but also note the good old beauseofyou (cass) all the artist you mentioned built their fan base on a certain music and stuck with it, if kelly wants to change with every album she will not have the same solid fan base. She just needs to think things through and keep this in mind.

I also need to tell becauseofyou that was not nice to take alans side with the video discussion rather then mine, I will remember that with things in the future lol

hahaha sorry to take his side. but idk i just have my own personal thoughts about it and agree witih more towards what he said... i still love ya buddy

and as far as being feasable to start your own record label, thats right, but look at it this way, there wouldnt be enough for each artist to start their own.. thatd be impossible which is why some stick with certain ones, and others look into their own thing. reba and her husband started their own, but not everyone followed their idea.. you cant expect every artist to be a follower..

and i feel that just because kelly changes her genre of music every album wont necessarily make her lose fanbase, and moreso help her gain fanbase. idk, i feel like her tru fans will love anything she puts out, esp if theyre up for listening to different music and stuff, and those who didnt really care for kellys music before, a new taste in genre will help gain those people become fans. you cant always look at things in a pessimistic way.

good for kelly for not wanting to put out the same kind of music every record. i mean, who really wants to be so repetitive when doing what they love to do. kelly is a music junkee, and bc of that, she wants to make music in every genre she can. ya know? im proud of her decisions like that. shes gonna do great.

Yes we will love everything she does. And Personally, I don't feel that she really ever changes genres. Like there will always be at least one or two pop rooted songs. It's just that the album has different influences, you know?  The only real difference I felt, was between Thankful and Breakaway. Breakaway and My December was mostly, I think, just a lyrical difference. I don't see what was so "non radio friendly" about that album. There were plenty of upbeat fun songs, the only problem with them,(and by problem I don't mean I think they are a problem I just mean everyone on the radio probably had a problem) was the lyrics. A lot of them i think were too deep for radio and people.

And yeah, I'm glad kelly doesn't do the repeats of stuff because that would probably in the long run be boring. We may like it at first, but then when you look back, you're just like "man... she only ever sang the same stuff..." and some people may be okay with that. I would be fine, but I'll be happy just as long as she's singing.

Now the only thing I would have to question her about would be Rap. But I don't envision her doing rap, so I really hope she doesn't do rap.
