                                       Chapter Thirty Seven:
                      "Have a good day,Dr Murphy,the security guard said as he left the
the building."You too,Murphy replied.As he made his way down the step to his car,Dr.
Samual Murphy saw the police officer standing in front of his car.He approached him
saying "Officer Brackett? How've you been,its been awhile.What can I do for you?"
"I'm not gonna beat around the bush with you Sam,Brackett said.
"I know whats going on.I know about Phoenix.I know about Joshuah,SNAILGUIN...
EVERYTHING! What I DON'T know is what exactly Joshuah has planned,or where
they've taken Snailguin.I'm NOT in ANY mood to hear an excuses either,so you might
just wanna spare me the B.S.,and tell me what I wanna know."
                      For several seconds Murphy just stood there silently."Sam,I swear
to GOD,Brackett said,dont play any DAMB games with me. For starters I wanna know WHERE
SNAILGUIN is." Murphy replied "Look,Darryl,dont come down here trying to play tough cop.
You have NO idea what you're getting into here.Best thing you can do is turn around right
now and lea-" " I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE,Brackett interrupted.I suggest you start talking
Sam or-" "Or what Brackett said. "You'll arrest me? Based on what?I'd only be out in an hour
and your department would be facing the biggest damb LAWSUIT,you've ever seen! Besides,
if I betrayed Phoenix...well... like I once told Will,THESE aren't people you wanna cross.
YOU dont have to be involved.Go home.I promise I wont say anything about this little
"conversation".
                   "Sorry Sam,but I think you know I can't just ignore this,Brackett said.
"What do you mean 'these arent people you wanna cross'.What do you know Sam? Have
they ever KILLED anyone? If thats what you're worried about,I'll make sure you're well
protected.I can help you....for God's sake Sam,I'm willing to help you,but you gotta get
outta this.You gotta give me something Sam." Murphy laughed."What makes you think I
WANT out.I'm not some "victim" who was forced into anything,I joined Phoenix willingly.
They're NOT bad people Darryl,they want to change the world,change it for the better.
Maybe someday you'll see that.If not..oh well.But I'm LOYAL to the cause,so if you think
you're gonna come down here,flash your badge,and think that's gonna make me-"
                  "Has Joshuah ever killed anyone,Brackett asked.You said they arent
people you wanna cross.HAS he ever killed anyone? Or had anyone killed." Realizing that
Brackett wasn't going to leave Murphy found himself wiling to give him SOME information.
"No, he said."Joshuah's taken a vow,never to use violence unless forced.It's a strict
policy of his.But dont think he's an idot,he DOES have ways of dealing with people,he's
VERY well connected.you have no idea just HOW well." "Ok, Brackett said,how DOES
Joshuah deal with people then?People who he sees as the threat I mean." "Well,Murphy
said,there's a facilty he owns up North.Its a prison really,never been up there myself,
but Joshuah has made quite a few people "disappear".That's where they end up.Dont
know exactly WHERE it is,but I'm told it's no place you wanna end up."
                    "Please,Darryl,please,Murphy said."Turn around,leave right now,and
I'll forget all about this.I DON'T wanna have to make a report to Joshuah." Brackett smiled.
"Oh,I dont think you'll be telling Joshuah ANYTHING.And you're GOING to tell me what I came
here to find out.I HATE to play DIRTY here Sam..but you dont give me any choice now do you?" "What are you talking about,Murphy demanded.
As the elevator door opened Joshuah stepped out.Snailguin however,
seemed reluctant as Joshuah tried to pul him along after him. turning toward him,Joshuah
said "Whats wrong Snailguin?" "Nothing snailguin said,it's just that well..I dont think you'd
understand." Joshuah smiled. "Wanna try me,he said. "Well,Snailguin said,it's just that....
they hated me.Every one of them.They hated me joshuah.I know the people inside,even
the "police" were all acting but..the crowd.They threw things...called me an alien.They
HATED me."
                      "Snailguin,Joshuah said."We're DIFFERENT you and I.And because we're
different,their will be those,who hate or mistrust us." Joshuah Snailguin said."At least
YOU look human,but look at me.I'm...this.You do very well with people... but me? They
HATE me Joshuah. And they always will,Snailguin said sadly.
"Snailguin,Joshuah said."I can assure you that NOONE HERE hates you.
You have friends HERE,and its because they ALL like you,not because they HAVE to.
That's what makes PHOENIX so different,there's alot of wrongs in the world that need fixing,
and WE'RE gonna do it.As for ousiders well,yes they will hate you.They'll misjudge you,and
call you names.But that's a temporary condition,I assure you.Someday,when we've done
the world SO much good,they'll look at you,all of them,and have no choice but to see you
as you truly are. So,you know what? If you deal with people on the outside,and they're
hostile to you,I'd like for you to think of it as history.Because someday it will be.And do
you know what history IS? History is something that is captured and owned in the pages of a book.But the FUTURE,well THAT belongs to you.Because you're the Snailguin.Always
remember that."
                   "Thank you,Snailguin said."I was feeling well...discouraged." "I understand
Joshuah said.'Now.Whats say we have another training session at the gym,and then,I'd
like to show you the nerve center of our little facility here. As my right hand,you'll be
spending quite a bit of time there...and wait til you meet Nancy.She's in charge of
operations when myself or Marcus arent around,she's a very nice woman,you'll love her."
Snailguin nodded,and then Joshuah proceeded down the hallway,pullling Snaiguin along after him as he went.

Good criminal story lol. That part of the prizon leaves me all wonder. Real power of the Phoenix organisation is really worring lol. I like how you build story around Snailguin and his emotions. I feel you will make great surpirse with Nancy introduction. Write on.

                                      Chapter Thirty Eight:
                        Joyce Watkins was was both angry and saddened.NOTHING she could
say was going to prevent the man in front of her from carrying out his plan,and she knew
it.She stared directly into Wilder's eyes,then shook her head.As she thaught of Wilders
intentions,she was unable to hide her tears."I can't believe this,She said softly."I...JUST..
CANT..BELIEVE THIS." She turned around and quickly walked toward the doorway. As he
struggled to hide his own emotions on this matter Wilder said "Joyce.Wait,please,dont go."
Joyce didnt respond.A few seconds later,she had disappeared through the doorway.
                       Wilder looked to her husband and said "I...didnt mean to upset her.
But,its a decision that HAS to be made." And once again,he began to rub his eyes.
you're REALLY gonna do it,arent you,Watkins said.Wilder nodded.'I've got no choice,he
said.I HAVE to look at the facts.There's over seven BILLION people on the planet,and my
son has become a danger to all of them.I..CANT allow this to go on.JOSHUAH WILL be
destroyed.And Snailguin with him." Watkins looked toward the doorway."I suppose YOU
want to leave to,Watkins said.Still staring at the doorway Watkins said "I have to check
on Joyce." Then he looked at Watkins and said "Can you hold off on your work til I get back?" Wilder shrugged his shoulders."I suppose I can,but why?" Watkins walked toward
the doorway saying over his shoulder "Please,just do it."I'll explain when I get back,I'll be
an hour at the most." "Ok,Wilder said,but I cant hold off long,I HAVE to finish this."
Watkins then walked through the doorway.
                    About twenty minutes later both he and his wife returned.Joyce stood
about three feet in front of him as she said "Look.I'm...sorry,I KNOW how painful all this
IS for you.It's just that I LIKE Snailguin,and dont want to see him destroyed.But,I
REALIZE now that you HAVE to do this." Joyce rushed to her friend,and hugged him.
"I'm sorry she said."Joyce,said Wilder,BELIEVE me,I understand."And you know what?
I'm HAPPY that you think enough of SNAILGUIN to want to defend him.Joyce,I wish there
was another way,but there isn't." Joyce them moved to the right side of her husband.
"Will,he said."We talked this over,and....we've decided we're gonna HELP you work on
the virus.
                 They had been working for over an hour,when Joyce looked toward the
doorway and noticed Sheriff Brackett standing there. As he entered Brackett said"Good news.I HAVE the location. I KNOW where they are." Wilder walked over to him."Darryl,he
said,What did you do..how.." "I THINK you know how,Brackett said.Wilder thaught for a
second then said "Murphy". "Yes,Brackett said.Wilder smiled.Then the look on his face
quickly turned to one of concern as he asked "Darryl.HOW did you get him to tell you?"
Brackett didnt answer."Darryl,said Wilder."HOW?" Brackett said "Let's just say,I made some threats unbecoming of an officer of the law.Dr. Murphy would never have told me for his
OWN sake,but for the sake of his wife and son well.."
                 Hearing this Joyce screamed "You THREATENED his FAMILY!?" Brackett
nodded."Dont worry Joyce,I didnt threaten them with any physical violence.I just let Mr.
Murphy know that I was aware of some of his sons..well..habits. I informed him,that,I'd
HOUND that kid day and night,which would make his life pretty darn miserable,if you know what I mean.And MRS. Muphy well...lets just say,I TRADED info.I told him things he didnt
know about HER.He told ME where to find Snailguin.I didnt give him a SECOND to think,otherwise he probably STILL wouldnt have told me." "And that was it,Wilder asked.
"Not exactly Murphy said."I..also informed him that certain things would be made PUBLIC if
he didnt cooperate,his association with PHOENIX being but ONE of them."
                 As soon as he'd opened his eyes,Joshuah sat up to find he was in the
INFIRMARY.Seeing Marcus by the table,he quickly lept to his feet."How long have I been here,he asked. "Nearly two hours,Marcus said." "I gotta admitt,I'm not exactly USED to
seeing YOU here Joshuah." Joshuah smiled."Marcus,he said."Snailguin,he has this amazing
ability.You know that Slimetrail of his? Well,SOMEHOWS he's able to turn it into a gaseous
form,it happened so QUICKLY,I was unprepared." Joshuah laughed as he said "Seems even I
am not immune." With Marcus in tow,Joshuah walked out of the infirmary.As they turned
right,and walked down the coridoor,Joshah said "I take it he's in his room now?"
                 "Yeah,Marcus said."I told him you'd be coming by as soon as you awoke,I
hope you dont mind." "No Joshuah said,not at all,I'm on my way to se him now.Marcus,
I'd like for YOU to go to the control room and and inform NANCY that I'll be dropping by
with Snailguin." "Of course,Marcus said.Just then,they noticed as two individuals a man and
a woman,both dressed in black suits wererunning directly toward them."Joshuah,the man said as he ran,we have a PROBLEM!" Stopping just short of Joshuah and Marcus,the leader
of PHEONIX could see that both individuals were breathing very heavily.Joshuah smiled.
"Calm down he said,calm down".Whats the problem?" Always patient,Joshuah waited for
the pair to catch their breathe. It was the woman who spoke saying "Nancy sent us here.
She wanted to inform you that she got a call from Dr.Murphy.Joshuah,we have a HUGE
problem."
                  If he knew anything about the trio was doing,Sheriff Brackett would offer his
assistance.However,not wanting to get in the way of their work,he simply stood and watched."How long he asked." "You might as well go home Darryl.Creating,even deuplicating
a virus isn't something you can do quickly." Brackett nodded and Wilder began to escort him
toward the doorway."I'll be back in the morning,he said."Wilder laughed."I know.Thanks for
your help,in finding out where he isImean." He then offered his hand to Brackett,who
immediately took it.After he shook the hand of his friend,Brackett said "Will,if I seem
INSENSITIVE about all this,I apologize.I want you to know,I LIKED Snailguin too."
"I know,Wilder said.Brackett then left through the doorway.Quickly he returned to his work.
Then Joyce said to him "You DO realize that Joshuah's gonna find out we know where he is.
I can GUARENTEE what that MURPHY guy did as soon as Sherriff Brackett left." Wilder
stopped working and looked at her.Very worried,Wilder said "I...know.I know.
