Due to ever increasing prices in a bad economy.. we have a goal of $100.00 to reach this month (by the 26th) to keep the site online next month. that can be broken down to $10 by 10 people, or $5 by 20 people.. whichever.. if we don't raise the money this month, the site will be down all of next month.

We are also looking for new staff (providing the site stays up).. people willing to so what they volunteer for (news updates, photo galleries, etc..).

in the past 7+ years, we've never 'asked' for donations, but it is needed now.

For those wondering why the site costs so much.. here's why...

first.. we're on a sever, because the site is too large and gets too busy at times to be on lower cost shared hosting. shared hosting is many websites sharing a server, and if a site on that server gets really busy, or too large, it bogs down the server and the other sites crash.. so we're on a server of our own...
second.. bandwidth... everytime someone streams or downloads a 3 meg audio or video, thats 3 megabytes of bandwidth used up. the media and photo galleries use a lot of bandwidth for this reason and are constantly active with a lot of people searching for old pics and media.
third, there are email restrictions on all hosting and all email accounts (especially free email accounts). We use gmail with our domain, which is good upto 1000 outgoing emails per day... when we do our email newsletter, and respond to email's sent by fans and members, and even registration verification emails, it adds up to well over 1000 outgoing emails on some days, and additional outgoing email blocks are purchased.
Fourth.. this site uses multiple databases. This is so if one thing crashes, or gets hacke d(which has yet to happen), we only have to restore that one thing, and not everything on the site.

we pay the server every month.. that's true.. but people don't need to donate every month. This just happens to be a short month, during a very bad economy and a hard winter. Businesses that advertise through the google ads and such aren't paying barely anyting these days (and that's what used to pay for this site for the past 7 1/2 years).

Many of the KCKellyville crew put it like this.. there's a big nuber of people who frequently visit this site, and try to help out when they can. if each of those people contributed 25 cents to 50 cents each month, the site would be more than paid for, but, that would never actually happen. Everyone emails us with idea's for things they want on the site, and we do what we can to use those idea's in one way or another, but it all adds to the costs, and most truly don't understand the costs involved in a large website, or the time involved in moderating the forums, keeping everything up to date, etc.
Than what makles it worse is when other sites do nothing but make up a lot of crap and bash this site like it's some kind of competition or game, and it's not (it's a one-sided fan war actually) and tere are members here who become affraid of participating in this site because they don't want to be ridiculed by some idiots who are all talk to begin with. That does have an effect on things.. the busier the site is, the better it does!
Meanwhile, for as long as we can keep this site online, we will do so, open to all to post where they want (jsut stay on topic please), and no descrimination!

i donated, but please promise me i doesn't have to do it every month, cause i'm in a little money trouble.... i just really want this site to run  it's better than Kellyclarkson.com, and that costs money...
