A true congrats on your paper being published.

I will also find the clip I have if u would like that Kelly said Low is about a breakup, because of you is a relationship problem/family breakup. Breakaway has its part too where she feels like she doesnt fit in with the others. So still love/relationship with them.

In terms of it only being Kellys stomached, it is still more then some parents want for kids so young. But that is the choice of the parent and maybe the way this mother thinks. If you read the beginning of my first posting I said I disagree and dont see a problem myself. But I can always make it so there is one person to point out the other view and debate The test will be how much kelly changes and she gets older. She cannot always stay a girl

Thanks for the karma, Thera!!!  ;D And let me reply to Artamous:

1) Um, Kelly only shows her stomach.  She's not wearing a bathing suit like Jessica Simpson's Dukes of Hazzard video...what 7-year-old hasn't seen a belly? Kelly may not be totally conservative (she's not Amish) but compared to all the other singers, she's the best out there for little kids.

2) Since U Been Gone was just a fun video...I consider violence shooting and killing people like in rap videos, not knocking over a cd rack or having a pillow fight with yourself.

3) How many artists' videos are about about love, sex, or relationships??? Love is the most powerful thing a human has...why wouldn't she have love in her songs??? Do you want her to sing about macaroni and cheese? Like Kelly says, writing songs is therapy...she's venting about love and break-ups.  And compared to a lot of other artists, she has less songs about love (Low, Thankful, A Moment Like This, Breakaway, Because of You, etc.)

By the way guys, my article was published in today's newspaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D I'd post the link but creeps would be able to easily figure out where I am hiding...er, live. lol.  :)

I know a lot of fans who think that 'Low' is about a friend committing suicide (actually, if I remember correctly, Jess said that when www.kellyclarkson.c a was still up and running) And when Kelly was recently in Seventeen magazine, she said that Because of You was about all different kinds of family problems (alcholism, divorce, etc.) and I've never ever thought of Breakaway as a relationship song.  I just always assumed it was about her wanting to change her life and breakaway from her old one (like the video suggests) By all means, I'm not trying to fight or argue, I just know in my heart that Kelly is god-sent and I try my best to stick up for her. lol.

I don't see how any parent can view Kelly Clarkson as being overtly sexually explicit or unsuitable for kids. Kelly has never promoted herself, or 'sexified' her image to sell records, and I consider her to be one of the few mainstream Top 40 females who has continued to uphold an image of a so-called role model. She has acknowledged that much of her audience is younger, and in turn, she is trying to project a positive image while maintaining that she is young and is living it up large (she drinks, she goes out) without compromising herself. When she pops up nude on the cover of Rolling Stone for publicity (ala Britney in 2001) or releases a video in the 'Dirrty' category, my opinion may be swayed.

Walk Away exposed her navel, but the video was about people basically clowning around and having fun with the song. If anything, it will influence these impressionable six year olds to sing in front of the mirror with a hair brush.

If anything, Kelly has continually promoted a positive image, in terms of body image as well. She doesent say, 'If you're five pounds over weight, you're going to die poor and lonely', she says, 'If you're healthy and happy, that's all that matters.' How many 'pop stars' actively go out of their way to do that? Not many.

These are the same people who have basically slaughtered Carrie Underwood's 'Before He Cheats' citing it promotes violence. Yeah, I'm sure little Janie is going to key little Jimmy's car because he pulled her hair. It's not plausible.

Attack Britney, attack Madonna, hell, attack Rihanna. She's dry humping a piano in her video for 'Unfaithful'. I just see no reason for why people actually view Kelly in this way.

My rant is over.

Bravo! lol...I, of course, agree with everything you said.  (Oh, and I know this is off topic but, although Carrie Underwood is a good singer with good songs, I don't think she's the perfect role model.  I mean, as soon as she got money from AI, she is now stick thin when she was perfectly fine before.  It shows a lot in the 'Before He Cheats' video.  And this may sound stupid, but if that video teaches anything, it's not violence but it's that cheating is bad. lol.)

awesome

I am not the biggest Carrie fan, but I think vocally, she is amazing. However, can we return to the VMA's of 2005, or even the making of BTHE...Kelly got pretty thin there for a while, which she attributed to non-stop touring and promotion. Underwood does not strike me as someone who would starve herself for the right 'image' - or I could be completely wrong.

Yeah, but Kelly definitely didn't get too thin...okay, so she lost the baby fat but Carrie didn't need to lose any weight at all (not that Kelly did, but you know what I mean) I also think Carrie is amazingly talented (I lover her cd) but I hate her live...she just seems fake to me...like, her personality isn't in your face like Kelly's is. lol. I don't think she captures the audience or that personal connection even though she has amazing vocals.
