I found this on AOL Entertainment News:

Jennifer Hudson: "Idol" Was Abusive

Now that she's moved well beyond "American Idol" into Oscar-nominated fame, Jennifer Hudson is dissing the show that made her famous, calling it abusive, misleading, and brainwashing. She tells Essence magazine (via People) of her time on the show, "You go through this mental thing: you've got to get yourself back together. You've been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think." Hudson, who finished sixth during Season Three of the show, says that she was "the girl in the turkey wrapping," referring to a particularly bad wardrobe choice, and that to overcome the characterization, she had to "sing my way out of it." Meanwhile, Hudson scoffs at rumors that there was any tension on the set of "Dreamgirls" between her and Beyonce Knowles: "We clicked from day one."

Even though I love American Idol to death and I won't stop watching it until it's cancelled, I think they probably are harsh on the contestants.  It's the music industry--it's Hollywood-- OF COURSE they're going to brainwash you.  If you can't take it, you shouldn't be in the spotlight.

Hudson was amazing in Dreamgirls in my opinion. She is also representing a demographic in terms of body image positively, so I give it up to the girl.

As for AI being abusive. Hell no! If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. People rocking up to audition have seen previous seasons, they know what to expect and they know that when they walk into that room, they are sitting ducks.

I definitely don't agree.  Jennifer GAINED weight for the Dreamgirls role.  That's almost the same as losing the weight (example: Vitamin Water telling Kelly to lose weight) She did represent a good body image until she let people push her around and she became even more unhealthy.  I'm absolutely not criticizing her for being a full figured woman (I'm definitely not a twig myself) but I AM criticizing her for changing her body image for a stupid movie role, whether it was losing OR gaining weight.

I have to feel that it is.I've said more than once that if Simon ever spoke to me the way he did everyone else there,he and eye are going to have a serious problem, right there on national tv.Without all the other stress,I believe that Simon is verbally abusive toward the contestants. You deserve a Karma for this Carol.

I think that what kelly said, about AI being very soft compare to the tabloids that are going to talk about youin the future,  in her Access Hollywood Interview is very true. If the contestants can't support the judges comments, just walk away!!!!
