he seriously did that whole speech abuot the importance of song writers on purpose.
i was getting all upset, cause i'm the type of person, if i were to hear that i'd be talking really loud about how much i hate it lol

lol yeah true, i still think he should have given Kelly a little bit more credit even if he doesn't like My December, at least Kelly's being original, what would be the point in her copying everyone and doing what everyone told her

um, I don't think he needed to say anything.  He DID mention Kelly's songs, which I was surprised he even did that.  But it was about Carrie (ew), not Kelly.  Kelly got her spotlight in Season 2 when he presented HER plaque.

The thing is, it seemed like the whole song-writer part of his speech was directed toward Kelly.

gman if u think about it kelly is one who really cares about clive. no matter what we want to believe clive is a big person and a major factor in kellys albums at this time, and he cares about the album as it is his business and what will make him money. lower production of this album will be a loss to kelly and clive and if it is anything terrible clive will probably make it an in your face type comment and let kelly have less say in her next album

^^That's true, and I think that if My December fails, maybe Kelly will not have a next album with SonyBMG. And if Kelly has fourth album with this label, suposing that My December fails, I agree that Clive will make Kelly sing what he wants, and she will not have another option than to do it.

most of you are saying who cares about clive, well the fact of the matter is this is Kelly's last album with SonyBMG (unless a contract is re-signed) just remember he has overall control of every SonyBMG artist, look the fact of the matter is he can easily cut "My December's" advertising funds like that, He can easily refuse any upcoming singles, look what Clive & Tommy Matolla did to Michael Jacksons last album, they didn't want him to write most of the songs on the album

MJ went ahead and said "I'm  a Big Shot, I write better music than anyone in the industry, while he is being a bit up him self, MJ had a point, no other artist sold records like him

and look what happened MJ only got two singles from the album, both failed and got his advertising budget completely taken away

now I'm not saying Kelly is up herself, She is doing what Michael Jackson did and stood up for what She believed and because She had a gut feeling about the songs She wrote she felt like the direction she was heading was right, this time she didn't back down from the arguement and said

"This is the way we're doing it" or no album for you clive, "Clive not wanting to have a few million dollars lost in his company semi-agreed to her proposal"

If My December fails it will be because of Clive Davis's intervention and advertising budget cuts, it's highly likely He will take away advertising budget and drive Kelly's career into the ground, He has done it to so many artists, this could be a bloody end for Kelly & SonyBMG

It's not to say the songs are going to be a failiure, it's just that when there's no money to promote a product, how can everyone find out about the albums release when they haven't heard of it, especially internationally (the biggest market)

if My December fails in the U.S, it most probably won't fail in U.K or Australia for the simple fact that our SonyBMG offices run differently and will continue to fund advertising locally if the album keeps up good sales, so thats good I guess
