The Green Topic!!!
« on: June 30, 2007, 03:13:45 PM »
In light of Kelly performing for Live Earth, I think we should show our support for the environment too!

Post your suggestions to save the environment here!  ;D

So far, what I thought of...
- Print on double sides of a paper
- Shower with cold water when the weather's hot
- Do not switch on the air conditioner unless absolutely necessary
- Buy recycled paper or paper made from farmed trees

i make recycled paper ^^b
and i saw this documentary, about the red light thingy of your TV.. you know when it's on stand by or something. it contributes to 10% of the world's global warming. so make sure you turn off your TV by pressing the off button of your TV, not just with the remote.  :smiley24:

Same with DVD players and stereos.
Also computers, they are best when you shut them fully down.

I actually learned of a few in my science class this year.
-If using the dryer, use it for light clothes, and let your jeans&sweatshirts air dry.
-When a charger is not being used, but is plugged in, it's still producing electricity. So unplug those when your..w.hatever is finished charge (cell phone, camera, mp3, stufflike that)
Ah, i felt like i knew more...but I didn't pay attention that much  :-\ I kinda slept or texted...heh  ::)

It's better for  you to take a hot shower when it's hot, because then it feels like it's cold outside  ;D

i do al kind of things, but i do it without noticing because i learned it from my mom, so it's normal for me!

i have to unplug most things anyway but i did this thing in science to calculate how much electricity i used in a week and it was quite a lot (mainly the computer lol) and so ive learnt to try and cut down and save it by turning lights off when not needed, chargers and tv's etc.

Buy double glazed windows! Unless you live in the tropics, of course...
Also, don't open windows when you're using heating systems.

And for the real die-hards: use both sides of your toilet paper :P

Same here. Anything that turns on or plugs in goes off when I'm not using it. Junk mail is used as scrap paper. I recycle paper, cans, etc. There is a bunch I do (I think) but don't know, since I've always done it. One of the most annoying things is how my father leaves the house with his light on. He seriously does not know how to turn a light off.

I like never run the air conditioner just keep windows and such open to cool the house and always turn off anything when your not using it...

At my school the whole school recyles paper, cans and such there's this one art teacher who actually did an art proget with trash... the students made different things out of trash it was pretty cool...

Boo. I have to write a review for the show, I don't like homework.  :-[ I guess the only thing that i'm looking forward to is Kelly's performance!  :D

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, I've posted this on the Help with Homework Posse, guess it wouldn't hurt posting here too.

I need help with homework y'all!!!

I have to write an article about Live Earth, so I need y'all to watch it and tell me how you feel about it, besides Kelly performing, lol..   :P

Just respond to the following questions:
Name, Age, Country?
1. What do you think about the performances?
2. Was Live Earth effective in getting the point of saving the environment across? How so?
3. Did you learn anything much from the program?

Just these 3 questions man! HELP ME! Thanks!   ;D

I actually learnt something from the Live Earth show today!
-Boil just enough water for what you need,
-separate your rubbish into glass, plastic and paper for recyling,
-plant more trees on your roofs or backyard to produce more oxygen and reduce CO2,
-Walk or cycle instead of driving

HAHA ;D ;D ;D ;D

Im all for saving the earth but I'd rather let global warming get me then use both sides lol

Im adding my tips now hehe
- When shopping try to use as little carrier bags as possible
- Some nights use candles instead of lights, soothing and smells nice ;D
- E-mail as much as possible and limit your printing

sig made by Juliakelly05, go check her graphics out she rawks ;)

Actually I feel bad.  :-[ I was never one who cared much about it thought it was a buncha junk. Well actually it's my teacher's fault for talking non stop about it.
But today I was cleaning out my room and had loads of magazines that I didn't need so I threw it in my trash. But it filled up too quickly SO then I took them and threw 'em in the little recylce box thing. It was pretty shocking for myself since i'm super lazy.
Not only was I recycling i was making a lighter trash load hehe.
okay it was pointless to post but i had nothing better to do + i had to see what questions PT_star needed to be answered
