The media really caused the contraversy.. not Kelly, not RCA..

It's about time a magazine posted rel information that explains such things as the KElly-Clive battle, becuase it's not just Kelly-Clive, alot of artists are going through the same thing with the record labels. There's debats, even arguements over the albums, but that's with ANY album, even top selling ones. If there were no arguements between artists and the labels, the albums would basically suck. opposing views often add alot to a record.. you get what the artist wants mixed with what the label knows will sell and get alot of play.

unfortunatly, people don't read articles about the industry itself, so when they see articles about their fav artist and the problems with record sales, they come up with all kinds of excuses and stories for it, the media jumps in, blows it all out of proportion, and boom, you have what KElly is going through with My December.

My December is not doing bad, not doing as good as Breakaway 3 years ago, but it's not doing bad, it didn't have any problems or less promotion than any other album out. The debate over Kelly vs. Hannah Montana too, Hannah Montana is alot newer, and alot younger audience, there's a tv show to debut the ongs on, of course people will run to grab it for their kids who watch the show. Back in the late 60's, a tv show was made called the monkees, they became a real band, they often outsold the Beatles, their third album blew Sgt Pepper off the charts, why? because every week, peopel tuned into their tv show to hear all the songs, they didn't need album promotion, they had it weekly in tv format.
PArtridge family had multiplatinum albums because, people heard the songs on tv every week, followed the tv show.. Jackson-5 was very simular, they had their own tv variety show, and sat morning cartoon.. that definatly put them on top. So Hannah Montana had a huge advantage over My December that way, if there wasn't a tv show, and Miley Cyrus released an album as herself, it msot lilely would have gone un-noticed, and MY December would have had no competition.

I think when your from America you don't seem to realise how hard it is to crack the American music market. Getting to no2 like Kelly did with MD is an amazing achievement. If a UK artist cracks the market its a major thing. Look at the Spice Girls... America hasn't had a British phenomenon like that since the girls. So i think its a bit unfair to say Kelly didn't sell well. I think expectations from people were too high. I think any further discussions about how bad it was should be deleted as its boring and partly why i hardly come on the site now as there is nothing else discussed like the old days

Hey..your right..I honestly think that MD is Kelly best cd..yet..Im in love with it. People should leave Kelly alone and get a life. I support Kelly 100%. A lot of ppl expected her to come out with another great hit..but you know waht im glad Kelly didnt. Because that proves that Kelly is a true artist, that doesnt do music just for the money but becasue she loves her job. I applaud her for her courage. and admire her for being strong. Kelly rocks my world.

It's Gold In The US at just Over 500.000 sold and nearly gold worldwide with just over 800,000 sold and in both cases should hit platinum in about a month.

There are a few reasons that I would still buy the album

1) The quality seems to be much better, compared to a dl from a p2p/shareware
2) If it is a cd I really like I prefer it having the inserts and so many include the lyrics
3) The appearance
4) Even if dl from itunes you wont have an issue with the license and moving from one computer to another

If nothing else most postings say you should buy the album or pay to download it to support kelly (or any artist)

The only thing I see good about dl is if there is an artist you are unfamiliar with or you like so few songs you can buy individual songs. With the shareware some have said it can have an advantage of if there is an artist you are not sure about or unfamiliar you might download one of their songs to found out you do like the music and lead to purchase of the disc that you would not have bought had u not heard the free song
